On Sunday, November 20, 2011, The ninth UBCV Conference, organized at Dieu Ngu Temple in the city of Westminster, California, ended successfully with the ceremony to nominate the Most Senior Venerable Thich Quang Do to the UBCV’s Fifth Supreme Patriarch and the Praying for World Peace as well as for Vietnam to be liberated from national and dharma tragedies.
More than 150 Monks and Nuns, and 4,000 followers took part in the Conference’s closing ceremony, along with dignitaries from Egypt, Norway, European Congress, and the United States of America.
Six hundred and nine representatives from 125 units of the Overseas UBCV in the US and Canada, Australia, and Europe were present at the Conference to continue and expand the Pre-Conference the Ninth UBCV Conference organized at Giac Hoa Temple in Saigon on November 12, 2011.
Representatives at the Conference listened to presentations and discussed the 5 topics:
- Vietnamese Buddhist followers and the danger foreign invasion facing Vietnam
- Strengthening UBCV organizations
- Challenges facing the dissemination of Dharma inside and outside of Vietnam
- The UBCV’s directions
- Discussing Conference’s documents and declaration.
